Medical Office and Health Information Technician
Program Description
With the growing demand for healthcare services comes an explosion of data — medical bills, insurance processes, patient records, etc. This means that medical facilities across the country are in need of skilled administrative professionals trained in dealing with healthcare-specific paperwork in order to stay organized and on top of everything.
The Medical Office and Health Information Technician program at Delta College is designed to train you to work in both the front and back offices of healthcare facilities. We train our students in modern facilities, overseen and guided by experienced instructors. Our graduates are prepared and eligible to sit for national certification exams from the National Healthcareer Association, including the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant, Certified Billing & Coding Specialist, and Electronic Records certification tests.

We teach you hands-on how to perform a number of different tasks, including recognizing and accurately completing insurance forms, preparing correspondence, recording simple medical histories, and arranging for patients to be hospitalized. Graduates can understand the language of medicine, anatomy, and diagnostic procedures and are prepared to handle reception area duties, including interacting with patients and scheduling appointments.
