Practical Nursing

Program Description

The U.S. population is aging, and with that demographic shift comes a higher demand for healthcare and medical services. Add to that a large number of veteran nurses hitting retirement age, and you have the nursing employment crisis we’re facing now. The Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates almost 55,000 yearly job openings for practical nurses over the next several years.

The goal of the Practical Nursing program at Delta College is to prepare our students to sit for and pass the Louisiana Practical Nursing Exam and the NCLEX-PN, and we’ve seen a lot of success. Since 2004 Delta College’s practical nursing school has been responsible for more graduates than any other institution in Louisiana. We believe the purpose of practical nurses is fourfold: to promote health, to prevent illness, to restore health, and to alleviate suffering.

Day and evening classes are available.
