Program Description
Everyone wants to feel their best, and the concept of “self-care,” the growing acceptance that we deserve to invest in our own self-confidence, has driven a greater demand for personal care services. More people are looking for, not just haircuts, but advanced hair treatments like coloring, straightening, wigs, clipping, and hair design. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of cosmetologists is projected to grow 5% through 2034, faster than the average.
Delta College in Lake Charles offers a 1500-hour Cosmetology program designed to set you up for success as a cosmetologist in Louisiana. We prepare you for entry-level employment, covering everything from the business to the science to the techniques of hair care. Our graduates are elgibile to sit for the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology licensing examination, a nationally recognized license.

The Cosmetology program at Delta College Lake Charles utilizes classroom lectures, demonstrations, mannequin practice, visual and audio aids, and supervised salon hands-on experiences to ensure our students are proficient in the responsibilities of a licensed cosmetologist. We also cover things like shampoo and scalp treatments, bacteriology, chemical rearranging, manicuring and pedicuring, and facials so our graduates are prepared and ready for the personal care service industry.
